Hi l have found the forum here finally...but there isn't anyone about. just wondering if many people actually

come in the forum. Hopefully there is someone out there, why don't you say hi.

I am Jane, l'm 48 yr old, l'm from melbourne,and am a mother of three children, two have left home and l have a 13 year old living at home with me.

He has autism and is a lovely boy, though it's not always

easy when he has his meltdowns. I am a grandmother to six beautiful grandsons, the youngest has autism too,

I also have grandson number 7 due on Saturday.

If they keep going and were going to be able to have our own AFL footy team in a few years hey..or they can play for the magpies, yes thats right l am a collingwood supporter. But you can still chat to me anyway.

Am I the only person that doesn't like the Americanisms that have crept into the Aussie way of talking. We had such a unique way of talking which is fast being taken over by "Cool, (so fun, very fun, these don't even make sense), go figure, awesome & so on. I personally detest it. I miss all the ockerisms that are fast disappearing. I found a site with all the ockerisms & they're very funny some of them, and very unique to Australia. Do we really need to copy Americans. SOPHIE and Craig D'Hyon spent the equivalent of a house deposit on their dream wedding yesterday: they wanted everything to be perfect, including the bling.

But the couple were shocked to discover they would have to fork out an extra 20per cent for Mr D'Hyon's ring because of soaring gold prices.

They were quoted $1800 for the simple white-gold wedding band, from their jeweller, Cerrone, when they first looked at it in November.

When they returned to the store last month, they were told the ring would cost $2200 - because of the gold price rise.

This is real crap. Even if the ring was 15gms or 1/2 ounce.. which is a big ring , the actual total pure gold value would still have been around $400 Australian even at today's value of $1000US per ounce.
So the jeweler jacks the price up $400 just to be on the safe side.

Whitlam, Hawke & Keating - Australia's worst Prime Ministers

In response to the lunatics and Labor Party bloggers in the other topic, I thought I'd start a debate highlighting the facts about Australia's three worst ever Prime Ministers - Gough Whitlam, Bob Hawke & Paul Keating. I could also start a topic about Morris Iemma - NSW's most useless Premier but I'll save that for another time....

So here are the facts...

Gough Whitlam - crazy, socialist who managed to send Australia broke in little over three years - not a bad effort, even for a lefty!

Bob Hawke - little Aussie whinger who was in fact shorter in stature and credibility than John Howard. Oversaw a nation dominated by union hacks and ABC watching elite, an economy with 17% interest rates and over a million unemployed citizens.

Paul Keating - Treasurer that gave us the recession we had to have and unfair dismissal laws that stopped any small business from hiring, leading to massive unemployment.

Compare these three with the record of John Howard who delivered a reduction in tax on personal income and subsequently delivered 5 successive tax cuts, an economy with 4% unemployment and the creation of an extra 2 million jobs in eleven years, a nation with greater prosperity that's gained a foothold on the world stage, a country where almost anyone can find a job and live with a reasonable standard of living, a removal of the socialist mantra and the all bosses are bad mentality and a nation that is looked upon warmly around the world as one of the most successful free market economies in the globe.

Homeswest tennants are the exception?

I am not a Homeswest (State Housing) basher as I have frequesntly used thier services when in need, but what REALLY gets up my goat is this:

Do these tennants have the right to throw out bulk rubbish/verge collection junk all year round, making our street look like a junk yard 300 days of the year?

And to make matters worse, when there IS a verge collection, nothing gets put out, then 3 days after street pickup, stuff is out the front again!

Its about time each state govt picked up on state housing issues, this being just 1.
